911 Dispatcher

The Communications Center consists of 21 dispatchers, 3 supervisors and 1 manager. The Communications Center is in charge of answering all emergency and non-emergency calls for service throughout Eau Claire County, while also providing radio communications with all Law, Fire and EMS agencies within the county.

 

Our dispatchers are the first point of contact for those in emergency situations. They are trained to provide instructions that keep callers and responders safe, provide lifesaving instructions in medical emergencies and relay vital information to those involved.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified candidates must be a High School graduate or equivalent (GED, etc.)

  • You must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be a United States citizen and/or have proof of naturalization.

  • No felony record.

  • Candidates must be able to work a variety of different shifts (the Emergency Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days per week).

  • Candidates must have good keyboarding skills, be detailed-oriented, and the ability to multitask.

  • Once employed, you must successfully complete the following: IS-100.b Introduction to Incident Command System, IS-200.b Incident Command System for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents, IS700.a National Incident Management System: An Introduction, CPR Certification, and Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification
